Last evening, entering the 102 inbound at Dunbrack—cars that should be slowing down, refused to move over and allow incoming traffic to merge! Argh—whatever happened to common courtesy? It used to be taught in Driver School—these idiots clearly don’t care! —Please, Let Me In

Re common courtesy article: I ask you if I am driving along minding my own business in one particular lane….why is it that I should move over for a person that all he /she has to do is slow down and merge in when there is space available…my experience these days is that people come flying down the ramps and expect drivers to move over for them…where is the common courtesy in that? In most case, if they slow down, they can slide right in behind …
Nobody is supposed to slow down on a highway! You are supposed to enter when there is a gap in traffic. Sure, drivers can move over to the passing lane to help you merge but they do not have to, and sometimes they can’t! Common courtesy – as you call it – is dangerous, especially when expected. Wait your turn! You merge when there’s an opening, if anyone slows down its those on the ramp! Please read up on the drivers rules, because you seem to be out of touch on some major issues. It’s people slowing down for mergers trying to force their way into traffic that causes accident’s and you are tragically misinformed.
The above comments are right on point. I agree with them 100%. I cannot stand it, when drivers coming off the ramps expect everyone else to accommodate them. A yield sign, means yield!
You are supposed to merge at the end of that lane, yielding to oncoming traffic. Once again the people of the inner city bubble are dumbfounded by laws.
Common courtesy has no place in traffic!!
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve almost gotten into an accident because some dickwad slammed on the brakes to let someone in.
And let me guess, you’re the guy who, when the highway is backed up, drives right past everyone else even though there is plenty opportunity to merge, and then expects to get let in ahead of everyone.. Why!?!
The right thing to do is to cause as little disturbance to other drivers as possible. Don’t make your bad merging everyone else’s problem.
