I don’t take the bus as often as a lot of people do. I can get lifts to and from work most of the time but end up taking the bus home about 5 or 6 times a month.

Even with my limited bus rider experience, you have fucked up so many times I simply can’t believe you still get to have your job.

In the past 3 months you have:

– Driven past my stop 3 times — I rang the bell, stood at the door and you just kept driving. I tell you that you missed my stop and twice you slammed on the brakes and opened the doors at the next stop, once you drove past the next 2 stops (I was yelling the whole time that I need to get off the bus), then slammed on your brakes and let me out on the highway about 10 minutes past my stop.

– Twice you took a shortcut and avoided 6 stops(including mine) all together. When a few of asked why you were making a wrong turn you told us you’re heading right to the next terminal and that we can get off when you turn around come back. Sure, we’ll get off 10 minutes late, on the other side of the road because you felt like taking a fucking shortcut. When someone said “What about the people waiting for the bus back there?” you said another bus will be along. I’m sure they appreciate your concern.

Finally, once you took a different route, went to the bus depot. Shut off the bus without a word to anyone and left us alone in the parking lot for almost 8 minutes (yes I was looking at my watch). None of us knew what was going on. Two young girls (probably around 13-14) were talking to their Mom on their cell phone trying to explain why they would be missing their connection and would be late for something (I think they said dance class) and other people were calling work explaining that they don’t know how late they would be because we didn’t know how long you would make us sit there.

You came back without a word – of course – and carried on your merry way ignoring everyone who wanted to know what was going on.

I’m giving you one more chance, only because this bitch lets me get some anger out here instead of on you but if you fuck up one more time I’m talking to your boss about your incompetence. So smarten the fuck up.—Homeward Bound

  1. I don’t know why you’d give this guy another chance; he clearly doesn’t deserve his job. People make mistakes at work and I’m forgiving of that too (sometimes too much), but this guy is blatantly showing his lack of respect for what he does and the people he’s supposed to be providing a service to. Especially when there are other unemployed people out there who would be happy to have a job and take some pride in doing it well. You should forward what you wrote here to Metro Transit.

  2. This is definitely NOT bullshit. The driver is a woman. It’s the #66 and I get off the bus at Sunnyside Mall. The route goes past Burnside and twice the driver did not take the exit to go down the Dartmouth road to Bedford. They stayed in the right lane and went straight to Cobequid missing all the stops for the Library and both malls.

One of the times she passed my stop she dropped me off at the Thirsty Duck car wash.

  3. so why is she still there elonwy? something real seems funny here. and i know a lot of the drivers, male and female.

  4. I don’t know why she’s still there but I didn’t report it because I usually try to give the benefit of the doubt as long as I can. I figure maybe she has a shitty time at home or is working really long hours and I would feel bad if I got someone in shit (or worse).

But I can only take that for so long.

Something seems funny to me, too. It seemed funny the day she left the Highfield terminal fine and dandy and instead of heading straight through the intersection to turn onto Eileen Stubbs…she got on the highway and pulled into the bus terminal.

The last time she drove past my stop I rang the bell and was yelling “Hey, HEY!!! You passed my stop….HEY!!!! LET ME OFF THE BUS!!!” and a man on the bus started yelling too when she passed another stop then just slammed on the brakes.

If you know her…kind of short, dark hair in a pony tail, looks hispanic, maybe. Tell her to smarten up before she she gets in shit.

I’m not the only one she’s pissed off so she may have already gotten a few words.

  5. btw LS…I see your original comment was deleted. I personally didn’t have a problem with it. I get it, you thought I was making up a bitch about one of your friends and you were pissed.

I know it’s true and I don’t get all pissy over what anonymous people write in the net.

Just wanted to let you know that deleting your post wasn’t my idea or intention.

  6. i find that bus drivers, security anybody that carries some responsibility in this city have egos the size of their heads….thats why all bus drivers should be retrained,or fired, remember you work for us,not the other way around….i think this was the number 9 bus as i had that same problem,he took a shortcut down Devonshire, instead of duffus,so i had to walk seven blocks back to get home…not impressed

  7. as a matter of fact, i do think i know who you mean elonwy. she drives the 52 sometimes too. but this lady is one of the nicest drivers i have met. so maybe it is not her. there are not that many drivers matching that i.d. you gave, and i talked to a friend about 10 minutes ago. they are going to check this out, and they will make a complaint themselves, if and when they find out who exactly it is. can’t promise much after that.

  8. Like I said, LS. I always give people the benefit of the doubt for as long as I can.

I don’t plan on making a complaint yet since I usually am the person who lets amangers know who the great employees are…I’m not usually a complainer.

I was frustrated and decided to unleash here on the bitch board rather than get someone in trouble right now.

I’ll put in a complaint if it happens again. Most of the incidnets have been very recently and if someone is having a rough time I don’t plan on adding to it then getting her to drive my bus.

  9. Elonwy: I used to take the 66 back in what? 2005? Yeah, 2005, and the driver would ALWAYS miss my stop if on isley/akerly, whatever that street was. They’d be going to fast I could hardly get myself up to the front of the bus to let them know and end up walking back to my original stop about 5-10 minutes away. *sigh* Fucking HATE the 66.

  10. For once I agree with Bon (whoa). I’m a pretty pro union, but let’s face it: drivers get away with crap because they’re unionized. This happens in MANY other unionized places, but not all, and it pisses me off because it gives all unions a bad name. *sigh* And the drivers who are awesome a bad name.

I don’t even bother bitching about bus driver crap anymore because I know it’ll never change, but I make it a point to call and compliment the drivers who are awesome (currently, my list of awesome includes the older lady who drives the 18, the older gentleman who I think retired that drove the 18 and one of the evening 52 drivers who I’ve had on the 61 a few times ^__^)

  11. Call and complain all you want, they are union protected. Unless the driver is excessively rude, or stops the bus and beats up a stuffed baby seal in a protest ralley, then your chances of getting any satisfaction for a complaint nonexistant. Good luck with that!!

  12. Why not just get over it?
Maybe he had to leave the bus for a good reason? But I’m sure you know why. Seeing as you rpobably asked the man, or know him personally.
Remember what assuming does to you and me? (Couldn’t help it)

  13. I didn’t ask the woman why she left the bus at the depot but other people on the bus did when she got back and the response was that she “had to make a stop”

If she had to have a shit or something fucking tell us. Don’t just get off the bus and leave us sitting there.

At least say something before you pull onto a highway that isn’t on the route and people are yelling “Whoa, where are you going” and when the bus stopped and a woman asked what we were doing here the response was…”Be right back”

    In otherwords…no response at all

Next time she goes past my stop I’m going to scream like a banshee “STOP THE FUCKING BUS YOU USELESS CUNT”

Maybe that will get her attention before she passes 2 more stops and I have to walk home from Sackville

  14. if you fuck up one more time I’m talking to your boss about your incompetence

CALL immediately with the bus # not the route # (arseholes can locate this number plastered above the windshield…the rest of us know where it is).

    DUH!

  15. You had me, Elonwy, until the “if you had to take a shit or something just tell us” part…does YOUR job description include “telling the general public you just went for a shit”?

    Thought not 🙂

  16. Well there should be a good excuse pretty kitty and maybe a regular poop might not constitute as one but diahreah sure would. Even if it made me late i couldn’t begruge someone for not wanting to shit their pants on the job. Like elowny i’d rather just know.

  17. You must feel pretty darn special if you feel like you are entitled enough to feel you have a right to know whether or not someone else has the shits.

just because they drive your arse around town doesn’t mean they have to share the most intimate details of their lives with you.

Because I’ll just bet you go running to tell your boss or clients or whomever you work with that you just went to take a dump. Mmmhmm. Right.

  18. OP, you sound like a terrorist sympathizer. Personally I think transit bus drivers, like any government employee, are trusted with their jobs to keep good folks like NGF safe. By using your same logic, I think these public servants should have the right to know if YOU have the shits and if you may be habouring narcotics or dangerous weapons in them chunks. Nobody is paying you to have an opinion I mean.

  19. A terrorist sympathizer WTF!?

I’m not necessarily saying she had to announce that she had to take a shit I’m saying that she said NOTHING. She didn’t answer any questions and YES she could say she needed a “pit stop” or a “bathroom break” but she didn’t.

She left us alone for almost 10 minutes one one occasion and didn’t stop at regular stops on 5 other occasions.

That’s 6 times out of about 15 bus rides that I was not dropped off at my stop anywhere near the time (or place) I should have been due to her…not traffic, not weather…her.

Pretty bad odds if you ask me. And I have never encountered these problems with any other bus driver in the last year. She is the only one that regularly doesn’t do her job.

She completely ignored people as they repeatedly asked her where we were going and why she was stopped. She just got off the bus and walked out and left us sitting there.

I just wish she would have said SOMETHING! That isn’t too much to ask and I have no idea what this has to do with terrorism.

  20. Koda…don’t worry. If I choose to make a complaint, I already know how to identify the busses I’m not one of the arseholes that can’t figure out the bus numbers aren’t the same as the route numbers …DUH

  21. Oh NGF, I adore you. I always have so much fun with conspiracy theorists and terrorist threateners. You sound positively American, making everything into a terrorist issue.

Personally I’m not that into terrorists. My time in the Middle East turned me a bit off them but you seem to be a big fan.

  22. Oh my fuck. I go away for a bit then come back to the boards and read this bus driver bullshit which I get. Makes me glad I rarely take the bus at all anymore and now we’re on terrorists.

Why the fuck is everything about fucking terrorists. Who compares complaining about bus drivers to terrorism.

    Fuck that’s annoying.

and this bus driver sounds like a twat. Job security be damned. I would report her every time she goes one inch past your stop from now on. Maybe they’ll just get sick of hearing from you and put her somewhere else.

  23. Unlawful confinement. Once the driver passes the stop you have requested, you are being detained on the bus against your will. Unless the driver can provide a very good excuse for having prevented you from leaving the bus at a designated and requested stop, then the driver is acting in a manner contrary to the law.

  24. But, Elonwy that’s what you DID say — you basically stated you should be told if the bus driver had to go take a dump. I’m not saying you don’t have valid concerns in your bitch, I just take issue with those who feel that since the drivers provide a public service that they’re not humans who have a right to privacy, and would like people like you who suggest otherwise to see what it would be like on the other side of the coin.

  25. First off OP, I’d have called after the second occurrence of this. Even if nothing seemingly gets done, the driver may just get tired of seeing white shirts day in day out and might cut it out. It’s better than staying silent and guaranteed nothing happening. Get the route #, bus number, window #, time, and just do it.

I have no issues telling people I’m answering the call of nature. Better people know than wonder WTF I’m doing for 5 minutes.
