You let me go because I asked for time to deal with an abusive spouse. You knew what I had been through. You are the most despicable woman I have ever met in my life. You did not support me. You allowed other employees to heckle me and you encouraged it. What you did was illegal and against all company policies. You encourage no lunch breaks and free coffee while you go to get your hair done and go to the gym…WTF labour board is going on in this city? –Wake up, management!

  1. If your working conditions were as bad as you allege, you’e lucky to be rid of it. Stop complaining and move on.

  2. Two of the last three bitches were about female bosses (pun unavoidable…).

What was all this we heard about women making a difference in business, bring new approaches, better CEOs, etc.?

Is there no difference after all, or could it even be true that “hell hath no fury…”?

  3. ^^ “Is there no difference after all,”
I worked in a male-management dominated environment. It had its’ problems. Think of “Lord of the Flies”. Management meetings were very competitive and people said really nasty things on the pretence of “just teasing”. There was a general lack of empathy for anyone who had personal problems. I also worked in a female dominated environment. It had different problems. Think of “Mean Girls”. There was a small clique that ran things. They hired or promoted their friends – sometimes despite incompetence or inexperience. The males on staff were generally well treated but certain women were ostracized. There was a lot of whispering in corners of the office and women were seen crying at their desk. The bottom line is that i think imbalances in personnel (especially management) tend to enable bad behaviour and abusive situations. Ideally there is a good balance of male and female management and there is someone at the top who makes sure all management keep things at a professional level.

  4. Here we have another perfect example of working drama diva. My office workmates for 30 years were men. I loved that environment – no weepy meltdowns, no temper tantrums, no hidden agendas, no backbiting & backstabbing, no emotional wonk to throw the whole office in chaos over their home life – yep, I feel sorry for anyone, man or woman, who has to deal with that emotionally draining bullshit at the workplace.

  5. labour boards are provincial, and in some cases where the industry is federally regulated it can be federal.

If OB is going to a city labour board, I hope that works out for her but I doubt that it will.

  6. Don’t stop complaining and move on like some are telling you, that’s just weak and accepting the mentality of “Oh well I guess this is how things are here”! That’s a terrible work ethic and mentality! I have no idea how people live like that!
Now that they have let you go, you have sometime to rest and take them to court. You’ll win as it’s actually illegal what they do.
You don’t even need a lawyer. Just take their company policy, labour laws in NS and you’ll see that what they did was discriminatory! If what what claim has bases!
