In the spirit of African Heritage Month, I’d like to point out that many drug stores (even the high-traffic one on Spring Garden) with beauty and hair care aisles are failing Black women in this city. I have hair, and it’s beautiful, too. At least once a month I forget that you forgot me, and stop in to buy hair products before I remember half-way up the stairs that Black hair doesn’t exist in this store. The others aren’t better: stop forcing me to vacillate between the diaper isle and the hair care aisle when I need hair products. My hair exists, and it doesn’t belong with the diapers. —Like you don’t need my money

Coming this spring on Global – “Da Kink In My ACOA Grant”
Diaper isle? Is that where diapers are made… who knew?! And who knew that black women use diapers for their hair styling?! The Coast become extraordinary informative lately.
Now, I daresay the demand for hair styling products for black women are not in high enough demand at these stores to stock them. Stores are not dummies. They exist to make money from black folks and white folks all the other colours of folks. I daresay it’s not a dis but rather there are not enough black women requesting hair products from these stores.
It would be foolish of a shopkeeper to stock items that would not sell or that would not sell in a timely fashion. You can’t tie up your capital in inventory. This is basic business practice. Ask the store managers.
It seems odd that in celebration of African Heritage Month that one would write such a bitch.

I’d doubt that the shops in question are going to be influenced by an anonymous post in the Coast. But they might stock the product(s) you want if if you ask them to. You can do so in person or message them on FaceBook. Good luck!

with anything that is stolen a lot, any store will put it somewhere where it not be stolen.
