My best friend met me after Spanish the other day and I immediately knew something was wrong. She informed me that they were having a discussion about gay rights in her Spanish class, and one person told the class how he doesn’t believe that gay people ‘should live together’ and said that they’re ‘disgusting.’ I wonder what you would have changed about your statements had you known that my best friend’s mother is a lesbian, and that two of our closest guy friends are gay and dating. Although gay rights are slowly increasing across the world, it is ignorant idiots like you that are holding back all of their progress. It sucks that thinking like this is still going on. If anyone caught the news today, there is a flower shop in Riverview, NB that denied the selling of flowers for a wedding of a gay couple because of the store owners “religious beliefs”. I was listening to the local news radio and moronic old bat called in and said it was against the store owner’s rights to say they can’t deny service to someone because of her beliefs because “they chose to be gay”!! Thankfully, everyone that called in after her called her out on it and made my chest pains go away :D!

I guess the old saying “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all” isn’t really being practiced these days. Why is everyone so concerned with what others do in the privacy of their own bedroom — between two consenting adults? Both straight and gay individuals will pull this shit too. I have gay friends (and sebastard does this a lot) who are all “ewwwwwwww that’s so gross!” when they talk about straight boy-girl sex (usually referring to the female end of the deal) just as I’ve heard straight people do the same in regards to same sex sexual relations. Why can’t people just mind their own business and let people live their lives (not like anyones condoning sex with animals or incest or statutory rape…. it’s two consenting adults! who cares if they’re male-female, female-female or male-male).
I was bullied when i was a kid in a few situations, but, it never bothered me that much because I decided I wouldn’t LET others make me feel any less than them. Your friends’ mom and her friends’ sexual preference doesn’t define her or them – it’s just something that makes them unique and interesting and ultimately adds, positively, to who they are. They have the guts to live the way they want in order to be happy. I know a guy so far in the closet that it’s glaringly obvious, but won’t admit, even to himself, who he is because he’s afraid. And that’s so sad. So he sleeps around with scores of women, won’t get into relationships and grosses out women with his sexual innuendos in an attempt to cover up his true identity. I feel sorry for the fact that he’ll never really be happy if he can’t admit this.

people do not ask to be born in a certain way, or they aren’t forced into it. they are or are not. i have a great many gay friends, and treat them the same as any straight friend. i have even seen the places of some gay friends, and they are far, far better looking, and cleaner, than the straights.
don’t like gays, then you don’t like yourself, because, hey, you could have been born that way.
I can understand if your friend didn’t say anything in opposition to this person in class. When you’re personally (if unknowingly) targeted by the bigoted bullshit people say, especially in a room full of people, it can be difficult to keep your head if you decide to openly challenge their statements… depending on the person.
When a need for debate over human rights comes up in a university classroom, you know something is wrong.
