I wish I could count how many times I’ve been late for work because of Metro Transit. I am a very punctual person, and it weren’t for you shithead bus drivers lining up end to end at Scotia Square, I would never be late. How is it that if someone takes their time getting to the door to exit the bus, stopping 8 feet from the bus stop ‘isn’t allowed’ but pulling up behind 4 other busses, 8 meters from the bus stop (before the crosswalk) with your number not even visible counts as a sufficient stop. People are still running down Barrington to try and make it to the end of the line of busses while you’re peeling out of there. FUCK YOU. You being shit at your job prevents me from going to mine. —Bitching Bus Girl

When are you getting the bus? If it’s in the morning, the 10 runs quite frequently, so perhaps plan on getting an earlier bus? I think they run every 10 minutes or so. So it wouldn’t be such a huge deal. Unless you’re transferring, but if that’s the case you probably just have to suck it up and take an earlier bus. Relying on the schedule during rush hours for arrival times is futile. I’ve learned just to rely on the departure times in the morning and evening.
Thems the breaks when you have to rely on public transportation. I’ve been there and it sucks, but what can you do? I could get away with taking a later bus during the summer months, but during the school year, I have to suck it up and leave 30 minutes earlier.
An empty bus is a happy bus, all day long….;)
I sympathize.
I’ve missed buses before because they stop for < 30 seconds before even getting past the crosswalk and then take off.
Doesn’t happen too often to me, but it is just enough to be very annoying.
And a productive union is…..
an oxymoron.
While I agree with your general sentiment, Uncle Ethan, I will note that there are exceptions. My dad worked within a union for one of the largest corps in the world and his division had the highest quality and production rates in the entire corp and the unionized workers were proud of that and took pride in their work.
I just wish more unions would promote this philosophy to their members. Especially public service unions.
I checked the transit schedule for #10 and it is every TEN minutes and during rush minute (being Halifax it isn’t an hour LOL) it is every 5 minutes …….. don’t blame the bus as you are the one waiting until the LAST SECOND to get to work with total disregard for your employer and co-workers. Fuck off, arrive on time refreshed and relaxed so they do not have to endure your misplaced rant about the BUS!
YOU were late …. twasn’t the bus!
I know PK. Damn you for sabotaging my generalizations with facts *shakes fist and stamps hooves* I should have been more specific. I’d never dis the Godfather, you know that. >: )
Why not blame the city for inadequate transit facilities. To many buses arriving at a “Terminal” ( can’t really call it a terminal any more). Plus not enough room equals a problem that passengers and driver both together experience. Passengers missing buses and drivers trying to get a to drop of people and attempt to make pick ups all while trying to not block traffic and a very busy cross walk.
I have suggested to many of my passengers that if they require a bus going through Scotia Square to the bridge a short walk down the next block to the CIBC is a much better place to get on easier to get your bus and no need to look through 4-7 parked buses. If going towards Spring Garden walk just past grand parade and get on there.
The only way I see an ultimate solution for this is to hope when they finally dismantle the Cogswell interchange (road to no where) that they will include a transit terminal of some sort in its replacement.
But I would hold out for it to happen any time soon the bridge terminal took how many years before they actually built it.
So till then take it from a driver we are trying to make the best out of a bad situation as we can.
It’s not that difficult to stand your arse in the middle of the sidewalk between duke and the service parking lot to Scotia Square and make sure you watch the buses coming in.
USUALLY you can predict where the bus will come in and with the onslaught of people crossing, the buses almost always stop at the cross walk so you can get to where the bus is stopping.
If you’re missing the bus because your original bus JUST gets there and you don’t have time to get from your bus to the transfer bus you need, it’s not MT’s fault: you’re not leaving yourself enough time to get your bus. The ONLY time I’ve ever missed a bus at Scotia Square is when I was transferring right at the moment a bus was about to leave. It’s called: effective planning.
Pretty sure they’re talking about the other side of the street…
the ‘shoppes’ side. I’ve seen it many times before, though I have been subjected to bus-ification for a while now.
I hate the dewsh-nozzels who leave early to go through the hamster trail to the CIBC building just to get a seat. If people can do that willingly, the fucking stops are way too close to each other. I only succumb to that jack-assery when it’s a snow storm…
and if you wonder why, you have no idea the bullshit I’ve been forced to put up with when everyone decides they want to take the bus home at the exact same time in a blizzard.
I’d only do that because I’ve seen my potential 4 routes at 7 prospective buses an hour sail by for 90 straight minutes because they physically couldn’t fit anyone else on any of them.
Try leaving earlier, instead of the last minute. Anything can happen, better safe than sorry.
Allow a 30 minute margin of error, plus or minus, and Mesozoic Transit will never let you down.
