The Internship

Two old men illustrate how silly young people are (with their Twitters and their Instagrams) in the depressing comedy, The Internship. Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson play Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, but as laid off salesmen looking to switch careers. Vaughn signs them up to compete for an internship at Google, for no clear reason other than he sees the webpage on his laptop. Teamed up with nerds, the two cool dudes must defeat their preppy rival while avoiding the attention of a crusty dean. It's a reheated premise, not at all helped by the two Wedding Crashers' continued, unchanged schtick. Were Vince Vaughn to uncover a massive government spying program at Google and turn the movie into a political thriller, The Internship might have been worth seeing. As it stands, the film feels like an in-house recruitment ad disastrously stretched to feature-length. —Jacob Boon
