Not everybody can afford a summery escape to Spain, but thankfully you can enjoy a tiny taste of sunny Barcelona here in Halifax with a quick trip to Highwayman (1673 Barrington Street). Picking a favourite pintxo is practically impossible, but the ’nduja and shrimp pintxo is truly worth a trip to the restaurant: A spread of locally made Calabrian-inspired spicy, savoury salumi from the endlessly wonderful kitchen at Ratinaud, topped with a couple of sweet, plump shrimp and a bright drizzle of parsley oil. Throw in a gin and tonic, close your eyes and you’re practically in Barri Gòtic.
