Sue Carter Flinn
Share
Although this is Share’s third album, in some ways it’s the first as a band. Originally intended as a musical and experimental outlet for guitarist/vocalist Andrew Sisk, Share has settled nicely into its place as a roots pop band with a cohesive mature sound. Produced by Dan Ledwell in a PEI cabin, the fresh air […]
Scott Walker: 30 Century Man
Bigger than Jesus and The Beatles: so were the hopes for 1960s crooner Scott Walker. The American-born enigmatic singer won over the Brit-pop scene with his boy band The Walkers and their big hit, a cover of “The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine (Anymore).” Walker left the band to pursue his own bizarre, experimental brand of […]
February doesn’t grow old
For 25 years, Helen O’Mara has been living with the ghost of her husband Carl, who died, along with 83 other men in 1982 when the off-shore oil rig Ocean Ranger sank off the coast of Newfoundland. A historically true story that shattered many lives, Moore filters a painful event through one woman and her […]

The Gertrudes, an 11-piece roaring clan from Kingston, are playing Gus’ Pub (August 3). The band tells us they “sound like a ol’ time saloon party in deep space…experimental […]
Worn Fashion Journal
Feminism and traditional fashion magazines have a fists-up relationship. But smart mags like Sassy (RIP) and Bust figured out that some feminist-leaning ladies do enjoy reading about clothing beyond “10 ways to hide chubby thighs.” Still, there’s never been a like-minded magazine dedicated completely to fashion, let alone a Canadian one. Based out of Toronto, […]
