If you’re heading to Sappy this weekend, I don’t want to hear about your amazing times, but I do think you should check out the Super-8 screening on Saturday night at 6pm. There will be films (including a few Haligonians) by Laura Borealis, Karina Mariano, Ian Roy, Alexandra Grimanis, Steven Woloshen, Rick White, Steven James May, Jon Claytor, Heather Harkins, Bucky Buckler and Tara Wells, accompanied with live music from Timber Timbre, Haynes & Driver, Rick White, Laura Borealis, Mount Eerie. Snailhouse, Shotgun Jimmie, Baby Eagle and Julie Doiron.
Two years ago at the Film Fest, the amazing Lisa Marr (formerly of rocking lady band Cub) did a night of Super-8 performances, with her partner Paolo Davanzo. There’s really something magical about sitting that combination of grainy images and live music.
