A stylish, entertaining British thriller, hitting all the genre marks without going much beyond. Two big things it’s got going for it: The first is the look—director Creevy sexes up London at night for his tale of a cop (James McAvoy, somewhat miscast as dark and intense) desperate to stop a career criminal (the effortlessly cool Mark Strong) who once put a bullet in his knee. The second is a cast bringing lots of texture to the piece; Peter Mullan, Johnny Harris and especially Andrea Riseborough—her work here is better than the material needs it to be. With this and her recent roles in Oblivion and Shadow Dancer, Riseborough is proving herself a versatile performer worth watching.
