Let’s get married
The Virgin Festival line up has finally been announced, and Dinosaur Jr. is on the bill (may be worth entire ticket price alone). The Tragically Hip headline, but don’t expect any of the Hips to compete with J Mascis‘ flowing locks. The Offspring, Hey Rosetta! and Arkells and more are scheduled to perform on Citadel Hill on Saturday July 4. Damn, this would be my third time seeing Dinosaur Jr. without ever having seen Sebadoh or a Lou Barlow solo set, someone needs to book Barlow at another venue while he’s in town!
yeah – a Barlow solo set would be pretty rad. but i bet he might have to fly for other Dino Jr shows or have a ‘exclusivity” clause in the contract. worth exploring though by the likes of Paragon or even company house.

It’s $75 for the day…there are lots of hotels in the immediate area. I’ve never needed to stay in a hotel in Halifax, but would try either the Holiday Inn Select or (probs cheaper) Halifax Citadel, which are on either side of the Hill, less than 10 minutes’ walk. If that’s too rich for you, there’s a Hostelling International on Barrington Street and Halifax Backpackers on Gottingen Street (closer to the Hill). There are lots of motel options but you would need a car or considerable cab money; they’re on the outskirts of Halifax proper.
