tSdc promise to excite

The thirtySomething dance co-operative is hitting the stage at the Neptune Theatre this weekend, with its new show Dance From Another Angle Presented in 3D.

The tSdc is a Halifax-based performance group that has been working together since 2004. The members have training in several forms of dance, from tap to jazz to ballet.

“This year’s show is a testament to women working together,” says tSdc founder Kate Hayter, “keeping their passion for dance balanced with real life.”
Hayter explains the 3D theme of the show comes from the idea that live dance shows are presented in real-time, with no retakes or edits. In a venue as intimate as the Neptune Studio, she expects the dancers will get “up close and personal” with the audience.

The troupe has a larger than usual cast this year, working with 17 dancers. Hayter says such a big group adds a challenge but can also be very rewarding. Working with more dancers and choreographers than ever will create a show with “great variety, style and our signature quirk factor.”
Hayter adds that it feels like guest choreographer Karla Hodge has been part of the team since the beginning, and she “hit it out of the park” with her contributions.

The show will be happening at the Neptune Studio Theatre, at 1593 Argyle Street. Showtimes are Friday, April 8 at 8pm, and then two performances on Saturday, April 9 at 3pm and 8pm. Tickets are $17 (adults), $14 (students/seniors) for the evening shows, and $15 (adults), $14 (students/seniors) for Saturday’s matinee show.
