The Wet Secrets
Rock Fantasy
(Rodeo Peanut Records)
Imagine if your high school band got hammered and marched off the field, then passed out in the equipment room in a pile of tubas, trombones and paint-can drums. That’s Edmonton’s The Wet Secrets, started by Lyle Bell from Shout Out Out Out and Vertical Struts’ Trevor Anderson. With titles like “Grow Your Own Moustache, Asshole” and “I Teabagged Myself” plus the band uniforms, it would be easy to mistake this as a joke album, but this is raunchy, hand-clapping, pounding disco-rock that deserves a serious listen. Even fellow Edmontonian Cadence Weapon joins the parade, with a remix of “The Chinball Wizard.”
