The pattern of the Kingston, Ontario, outfit is to rock out Irish-style with exhilarating shows and, every couple of years, spit out an album. They’ve kept it up for 15 years. Even this studio set feels like a live show, meaning distortion is a byproduct of ruckus and two entries are “Nancy Whiskey” and “Whiskey in the Jar,” or filler, really. Damnhait Doyle and members of the Dropkick Murphys and Billy Talent add tenderness, rowdiness and wattage at appropriate moments. The quieter spots, like “Market Song” and “Night Train to Paris,” are when the charm of singer Finn McConnell shines, and the Mahones refine the residue of their shenanigans.
