Bull Durham…Field of Dreams…if that wasn’t enough, now Kevin Costner, in his desire to slide into third, is sticking his cleats into Halifax baseball diamonds too. Costner and his band Modern West is one of the opening acts for next summer’s two-day Country Rockfest 2010 on the Halifax Common, brought to you, once again by Power Promotional Concepts (KISS, McCartney, Keith Urban). The director-actor-country boy is opening for Alan Jackson, along with Billy Currington and Lonestar on the Saturday night. George Canyon and Johnny Reid perform on Friday for “military night.” Waterworld and Bodyguard jokes are free, only at thecoast.ca.

Tickets go on sale on Dec 15. A weekend pass is $89, VIP package is $189.

  1. Oh my…has Jaxckson even made a record in the last 5 years?!?! Two days of having my dog die, my pickup truck breaking down, my best girl leaving me and drinking my sorrows away. No thanks. I will save my money for the U2 concert in Moncton. Once again Halifax gets acts that no one else wants. Way to go Harold. Who next? Earl Scruggs?

  2. This is truly terrible news. Kevin who? That guy in the video not playing guitar and not singing into a mic? why can’t we get some relevant country acts. Vince Gill? Sadies? Dwight Yoakam? Ricky Skaggs? Christ my little country rock outfit Deerfield would be better suited to do this than most of the acts on this bill!

  3. Listening to the hour long McCartney soundcheck from our porch was great. This is going to force me to close my windows.
