This has to be the best press release I’ve read in a while:

“GET READY FOR THE STEVE MILLER BAND

‘It’s just one of the best concerts I’ve seen in my life. It’s classic Steve Miller. The shades, the guitars, the riffs, the endless hits, some fantastic story telling, and a great band. Man, Steve Miller just played in my liv’in room.’ — Rick Thompson.

Who is Rick Thompson? He’s you! He’s you if you are a fan of an incredible 2-hour + concert experience, with hits, stories, a very cool side dance man-vocalist, some pretty damn wicked guitar playing, a few new tunes thrown in and, oh yes, sensational memories all night long. That’s how Thompson described his recent encounter with the Steve Miller Band. ‘Big venue, yet intimate performance. Still not sure how he pulled that off. Clean stage. Tight band…big sound. All the rockers, all the hits, and those tributes to Bo Didley [sic] and Les Paul…brilliant!’

Nothing else needs to be said.”

Nothing? Are you sure? Don’t leave me hanging with this existential crisis! Who am I? Rick Thompson? Are we all the same? Am I the pebble in the brook or am I the brook? How will all those people fit in my liv’in room?

Here’s some ticket info to read while I run around my house smashing all the mirrors, dragging my nails down my face and screaming:

  1. Errh. Saw him like over 15 years ago at Parlee Beach and he was boring then. Can’t imagine the guy’s gotten more exciting with age

  2. Too bad he wouldn’t play the music he was playing when that photo was taken! That was his most brilliant, original, laid back and un-commercialized work he’d ever done. It’s totally awesome! Then he came to fame, spit’n-polish, rock’n roll and blockbuster hits.

I wonder what the “Gold Circle” is…….oooohhhhh!

  3. i totally wanted to make a comment about the “gold circle” too. but i couldn’t think of a joke that wasn’t golden shower related and i wanted to keep this PG13.

  4. It was a brilliant performance. He covered the classics & did a few (to be) hits. The stage was stunning, not an overkill. The band was tight & well rehearsed. His newest band member, I believe he was introduced as Sonny James(?) had more moves than a bowl of jell-o!

We truly appreciated his blues tunes, too. We left with fond memories & skin covered in goosebumps! Truly a concert to never be forgotten. We’re so glad we went!
