We’ve seen them dance. We’ve seen them pitch business ideas. Now Atlantic Film Festival and CBC Atlantic are getting in on the reality-television-voting wagon, just in a much classier, arty way, of course. Short Film Face Off, which begins on Wednesday, April 16 at 7pm is a new prime-time six-hour CBC TV series. Hosted by Matt Rainnie, panelists Nigel Bennett, Sherry White and Christine McLean will be joined by guests like David Myles, Juanita Peters, Joel Plaskett, Jackie Torrens and Tara “I said the quiet part loud” Thorne. On each show, short films will be screened, panelists will talk to directors, and one film will be chosen to go on to the semi-finals, where a final winner will be chosen through online viewer voting. The winning filmmaker will receive a CBC production deal for their next film. So fierce.
