Ron Sexsmith has joined vocal forces with long-time collaborator/drummer/ex -Rheostatic Don Kerr and created a recording that spends a great deal of its time revelling in an opportunity to explore Beatlesque duets and harmonies. This combination of elements hints at great potential and does not disappoint. Sexsmith has used this collaboration to expand his writing palette, if only slightly. Kerr’s solid vocals also shine, as do his technical skills — he produced, arranged and mixed this recording. Ron Sexsmith is underrated by everyone but his fans, who will babble a string of praise to anyone who asks. Unfortunately, like jazz, Sexsmith’s music receives far greater appreciation and respect in Europe than North America. This must stop.
