The Sweet Deals are saying so long. Or maybe, until next time. With the departure of bassist Billy Habib-Taylor, who’ll soon be on his way to Toronto, the Halifax-based band has decided that after three years of making music together they’re disbanding. “I think the lineup we have is really great, and would like to keep it this way, even if that means we can’t play for awhile,” says frontman Seamus Erskine, who’ll direct his attention to his solo efforts for the time being. While the future of The Sweet Deals is a little uncertain, they’re sweetening the sting of goodbye with the release of their first full-length album, which was recorded last spring in the home of its producer Garrett Mason. Talk about a great parting gift.
