Friday night, clear your schedule. Rich Aucoin has made party
hats with you and your friends’ names on them. Aucoin promises “more
visuals, light shows, balloons and confetti than you know what to do
with.” He harnesses the power and energy of a Flaming Lips show all by
himself, but Windom Earle is sharing the bill to help keep the crowd
overwhelmed with danceable awesomeness. Aucoin will also be showing off
his remixing prowess under a new Century Club moniker.
The show is in celebration of a cassette, which Aucoin describes as
an “underground hip-hop-style mix tape. Most of the tracks are other
peoples’ and then one or two of mine and Windom has the other side,
doing the same.”
For part of the night Aucoin will be “mixing YouTube fun with
Baltimore-style mash-ups.” Interaction is fundamental for a performance
like this: “People can enjoy the show without taking part, but these
live shows,” says Aucoin, “are really designed for everyone to be a
part of.”
