Razorlight’s Slipway Fires is a difficult album to listen to,
as it is nearly impossible to not long for the popular Anglo-Swedish
band that broke out in 2004 with such Brit-pop gems as the title track
“Up All Night,” plus “Rock ‘N’ Roll Lies” and “Golden Touch.” It’s not
that Slipaway Fires, their third studio outing, is terrible at
all, it is simply more subdued than the disc which propelled the band
into the spotlight five years ago. Slipway Fires requires a few
listens to truly reveal itself, so do yourself a favour; put the time
in and you will be richly rewarded with Razorlight tracks such as “Wire
to Wire,” “60 Thompson” and “Tabloid Lover.”
