Writer Brian K. Vaughan is a fan favourite, and his ongoing West Wing-with-superhero story Ex Machina has been making these kinds of lists since its debut a couple of years ago. This hardcover original with art from Nino Henrichon takes its inspiration from actual events: In April 2003, a pride of lions escape from the Baghdad Zoo with the arrival of American troops. Henrichon envisions the war-torn city not a far cry from what we see on the evening news, and Vaughan tells a talking animal story in the shade of Richard Adams and Rudyard Kipling, cut with humour and tragedy.

hey i like the old geezer myself, and give change if i have it to spare! but he doesn’t wear an eye patch, not to sure about the deafness, but definitly know about the eye, unless it happen it the last couple of years! I saw him off Robbie street walking his dog, he smiled and mouthed hi, i don’t really care i’d rather give it to him then that guy who pretends to have Taretz, he likes to swear at you and follow you when you tell him you don’t have money or cigaretts; he also fakes it…he use to come my coffee shop and get coffee, he was always very polite, never approached anyone -would smile, never wore that expression he wears on the street.if he was nice like the other guy maybe i would give him some change, but you be an asshole to me -i be one to you!my advice …don’t give your money away and make wine/beer, if you gotto drink this is really cheaper.

man, I’m in Ottawa now, and miss that guy. My friends and I have called him ‘Patches’ for years! He’s a character, a friendly one. If you saw the asshole bums here, you would choose Patches any day!
i would just like to say that i have just started to read these bitches on the web in the last month. Some of them are really interesting and give points of views i would never think of. Some are along the same view as myself. but there are alot out there critiquing people’s method of expression. whether it being correcting spelling or grammer, what i don’t understand is why. people just want to voice an opinion about the bitch – they are not in school, they just speaking out. i think these people who are constantly correcting the words that are being written and not commentting on the what the words are actually saying are really quite tired.who cares if you think someone can’t write- the poster is about a guy who bums $$$, how does that make you feel? personally i thinks panhandling should be against the law…or is it?

It’s not that I don’t have a heart, or feel a pang when I see someone who is worse off than I am. Certainly if you have more than you need you should help others when you can. That said, I think it is incredibly unfair that I feel intimidated going to my local LC because, if I don’t have something to give him, he has outright called me a “bitch” and gestured at me in a way that makes me uncomfortable, particularly when I have never once said anything negative. Sad to say, but it is a disgrace that he is allowed to stand there day in, day out.
I’m living in the UK now and man, I miss the pirate!! I would give him a couple of coins just to get a kiss on the hand. I just try not think of where those lips have been.
