PHOTOPOLIS: The Halifax Festival of Photography October 1-31 photopolis.ca
Happening all of October, Photopolis, Halifax’s triennial photography festival, will consist of series of exhibitions and events across the city celebrating the many diverse forms of contemporary photography.
If you can’t wait until October, never fear: there are a few early-bird exhibitions opening this month: Convergence: Photopolis Board Group Show, Craig Gallery (To Oct 8), Forged by Steve Wadden, St. Mary’s University Gallery (To Nov 12), We Shall See by Ian Willms, MSVU Art Gallery (To Nov 5).
Once you’ve had your visual fill, you can round things off with an informative visit to Halifax Central Library for the Photopolis Symposium on October 28, where you can hear keynote speeches and panels discussing such topics as photography and activism, photojournalism and more.
Hop around the city during the month of October to experience all this event has to offer. And bring your camera—you never know, you too may be a shutterbug in the making.
