One of the most unique artists in Canada appears to be branching out, each move characteristically distinct. Now based in BC, Petunia was once easily identified as the the best damn yodeler since Slim Whitman. With the Vipers, he’s got rockabilly in range and can still summon a time before you were born with a pause or a croon. He’s a tireless tourer. Two live staples, “The Cricket Song” and “Yes Baby Yes” (with kazoos!) have definitive versions here. A couple of sagas, about Che Guevara and Toronto legend Handsome Ned, break up the breezy flow but show some ambitious writing. Petunia’s the madcap throwback that country music needs.

  1. Yes!! I agree. Great album. Definitely worth buying the Vinyl, IMO.
Thanx Petunia (and the Vipers) for putting out such great music. Keep it up, and come back to the Maritimes, ok? We love you!! xox
