If you're as weary as I am of having your holiday mixed to the tune of last year's Bieber Christmas album then Réjouissance's fourth annual Christmas concert is appearing at Bethany United Church just in the nick of time. "Réjouissance," just FYI, is French for "rejoicing" and that's exactly what you'll be doing if you take a minute to head back in time with the Early Music Ensemble for a little baroque break. "We do a lot of ancient Christmas carols," says harpsichord player Shawn Whynot. "Along with an early music spin on traditional carols. The melodies are familiar but the presentation is fresh and exciting." Know what else is fresh? The period threads the group will be rockin' on Wednesday. "It's a mix of humour, history and scholarly info," he says. Which sounds like the perfect cure for holiday hunger to me.

Fourth Annual Olde World Christmas Concert
