Tyvek won’t disappoint.
Lovers of loud and/or experimental music rejoice. Divorce Records‘ Obey Convention is back for a third triumphant year; the festival is taking place May 22-24 in Halifax. The Obey Convention is “a festival of free ideas in both music and art.” Expect loads of music, video screenings, installations, a zine fair, workshops and an art opening. Passes will be on sale at Lost & Found and online starting in April. Here’s a taste of the stellar line-up for this year: Tyvek (Detroit), Creeping Nobodies (Toronto), Noveller (New York), Black Feelings (Montreal), Grand Trine (Montreal), Totally Ripped (Vancouver), Sex Negatives (Vancouver), Cosmetics (Vancouver), Gown, Stolen Minks, ECT, Memories Attack, Combat, Omon Ra and Friendly Dimension. The best part about all this is, even more bands will be announced closer to the festival, and you can check divorcerecords.ca for more info as it becomes available. Can you stand it? I didn’t think so.
