Since she was a kid playing in the mud Miro Davis has had a fascination with materials, nature and 3d spaces and it shines through in her latest exhibition Skins. The collection of sculptural pieces plays with porcelain, woodcarving, canvas, sculpted canvas, paint and grout to represent experiences Davis has had in nature, like laying on her back in a bed of aspen trees. “All of the pieces are trying to capture that line where the external space meets and influences the internal space, so all of the work is inspired by some moment in time and a place that I’ve reacted to. This work really speaks about a memory, the residue of a story.”
