The brand of road-weary rock Matt Mays and El Torpedo have become known for has earned the Dartmouth natives opening slots for both Sam Roberts and Blue Rodeo in the past two years. Tracks like “Travellin’,” “Cocaine Cowgirl” and “The Plan” are going to help solidify the quintet’s place on the Canadian music map alongside the likes of Canadian darlings Blue Rodeo and The Tragically Hip. Their eponymous major-label effort ought to make 2005 the year of The Torpedo.
