Martha Wainwright
I Will Internalize EP
Maple
I Will Internalize is the third release from the other Wainwright child this year. Following on the promise of the Bloody Motherfucking Asshole EP and her full-length eponymous debut, Internalize features more of Wain-wright’s quirky Joni Mitchell-meets- Tom Waits folk. The disc is rounded out by the title track “New York, New York, New York”— featured on her concert promo Factory EP — some new tracks and an intoxicating duet with Rufus called “Bring Back My Heart.” Though it doesn’t replace her astonishing debut, it works as a great sampler, showcasing the brilliant songwriting skills that she has inherited more from her mom Kate McGarrigle (rather than her dad Loudon Wainwright). A great holdover until she releases her second record.
