By the time you’re a sophomore, you’ve usually come into your own. Or at least, you’ve started to figure yourself out. The same can be said for singer-songwriter Klarka Weinwurm’s upcoming release, a departure from her solo material that channels her more indie-rock side. “It was kind of a natural progression—I always wanted to play with a band and have a fuller sound,” she says, adding that despire the transformation she still credits her folkier beginnings for where she is now. Recorded last winter at Riverport’s Confidence Lodge, Continental Drag’s arrival has been a bit of a waiting game for Weinwurm, but a springtime release on Saved By Vinyl leaves a lot to look forward to. Not discrediting her work in the past, Weinwurm says that she feels like this album is her true first release, because it feels right. “It’s the direction I want to keep going in, it’s what I want to be known for.”
