While some of us prefer to hibernate the winter away, Kestrels are gearing up for a mighty productive one. After holding it captive for a little while, they’re ready to share their new seven-inch EP. “The intent of The Solipsist is that it’ll be sort of like a single leading up to our full-length album,” says the band’s bassist Kirstan Moore. Kestrels are midway through recording that LP, which will be released in the spring. Spring also holds a tour of eastern Canada in March. “The EP signifies our launch back into being busy again. We have something to work towards, our sort of long term plan.” While the official release date for The Solipsist isn’t until March, you can get pre-release copies on standard black vinyl, or on the mega-sexy, limited edition blue vinyl.

Saturday January 15, The Seahorse,1665 Argyle Street, 10pm, $8
