For Toronto-based musician Julie Fader, heading out east to play Halifax’s new music and arts festival is a spring treat. “Getting on a plane with my guitar to come and see so many friends and put together a Hali band over the weekend before my show? Crazy fun,” she writes, emailing on a short coffee trip from a mid-week lakeside hangout. While her guitar-playing callouses are suspiciously missing—Fader admits she’s been working almost exclusively on her paintings, temporarily forgetting about the world of music—she sounds more than ready to bring it all together at Sunday’s show.
