October 17 is a date looming large in our calendars for lots of wild, wonderful reasons—it’s the first day of the Halifax Pop Explosion AND the first day of legalized cannabis—but now the countdown is about to be even more epic: HPX announced today that it’s getting the party started a little earlier with a countdown to legalization party on October 16 at The Marquee Ballroom featuring the sunshine-streaked sonic tonic of Matt Mays and the stadium-inspired riff-rockage of Partner.

Doors open at 8pm and entry is guaranteed to wristband holders (the fest says a few door tickets might be available if space permits) so Mays fans won’t wanna leave it to chance. Get your wristband—and peep the festival’s full lineup, which includes awesome all-girl rap group The Sorority, a show by Polaris prize winner Jeremy Dutcher and more—at halifaxpopexplosion.com.
