W hen the Halifax Jazz Festival announced its return to a pre-pandemic-level event in late April, we already knew it was the sort of fun that’s worth marking in your calendar. Today’s second wave of act announcements proves our gut right, with the announcement that indie royalty Perfume Genius and The Weather Station will be playing a show together July 15. The Grammy-winning Alex Cuba is joining the slate for a July 16 show, opened by Juno winner Molly Johnson. Local neo-soul superstar Aquakultre will kick off opening night, warming the stage July 13 for New Orleans jazz/groove stars Tanks and the Bangas—while the Dire Straits-styled Adam Baldwin will join infamous party band The Mellotones on July 17 for a free, festival-closing showcase.
