You wheely don’t want to miss this.

Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean the city’s cyclists are hibernating. The cycling infrastructure conversation is an ongoing on, and the Halifax Cycling Coalition, Mountain Equipment Co-op, and Dalhousie’s Office of Sustainability are reminding us all of that by bringing in the big guns. Mikael Colville-Andersen is the CEO of Copenhagenize Consulting, an expert in urban mobility and Denmark’s bicycle ambassador. In short—he’s one of the world’s best when it comes to bike culture. “People don’t necessarily feel safe,” says the HCC’s Scott MacPhee. “It’s about the need for the ‘if you build it, they will come’ kind of attitude.” With the Crosstown Connector’s public consultation looming (its date isn’t confirmed but MacPhee says it’ll likely be in February) Colville-Andersen’s visit couldn’t be more timely. Cyclists both novice and experienced, naysayers and everyone in between: take the time to learn from the best how we can make our city better.
