Green Day
American Idiot
(Warner)
Since Dookie in 1994, Green Day has never quite duplicated its early success. Sure, “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” brought moderate airplay, but it was nothing like what American Idiot is poised to do for the So-Cal trio. The title track blisters with the same passion and energy that Dookie burned with and boasts instant classics in “…When September Ends” and “Blvd of Broken Dreams.” Green Day has combined the highlights of their career and delivered their best album to date.
