Aaron Green (Jonah Hill) is sent to London to fetch rock god Aldus Snow (Russell Brand) for an LA concert. The film can’t be praised as a completely funny movie because it is more like a collection of funny ideas, however the film’s one deep pleasure is Brand’s Snow and the filmmakers know how to deploy their ace in the hole. Get Him To The Greek is a mediocre movie propped up by an unavoidably entertaining couple of performances, that of Brand and Rose Byrne as his daffy pop-starlet girlfriend. People like this are compelling in the same way Discovery Channel shows about extreme weather are compelling: You are in thrall to the power on display, but far removed from the path of destruction.
