Don’t walk by, go inside. You won’t regret it.

Your first glance at the the few, but mighty works that make up Irretrievably Lost might lead your eyes directly to the desolate faces tucked within the intricate lines and layers of Sera Senakovicz’s drawings, carvings and lithographs. But once you get past those weary gazes you’ll see that it’s actually all about the hands, those powerful tools that we were born with. Channelling her interest in the things we do with our hands, and the responsibility that comes along having them, the Halifax-based artist has created a collection that’s eerily entrancing. Senakovicz’s large, mostly two-toned works communicate narratives of both destruction and construction told through details so intricately textured, you may get lost yourself. —Allison Saunders
