This full-length from local hip-hop artist Expedyte might shock the
rock department, but won’t come as a surprise for Three Sheet fans.
Life delivers essential lounge hip-hop plus upbeat hooks on
tracks “Sunny Daze” and “Trendz,” an analysis of ’80s and ’90s trends:
“You never notice them until the past tense.” But the up-and-coming
vocalist also produces much depth and social commentary with “For What
It’s Worth,” a track about legacy: “For what it’s worth, I’ll never
forget the pain, for what it’s worth, I’m gonna carry on the family
name.” Haligonians will appreciate Life, but Expedyte might need
to wait until album two for national recognition.
