Eastern Front Theatre also released its line-up for the SuperNova Theatre Festival formerly known as On the Waterfront. Running from May 1 to 11, there’s plenty of family-friendly fare including physical comedy, breakdancing and a play about the pink-shirt, anti-bullying movement (no pushing). For those old enough to grab a drink afterwards, Luna/Sea Theatre Company’s To Capture Light (May 8, 10 and 11) brings art to life with the story of 19th-century Nova Scotian impressionist painter Frances Jones Bannerman. Sketch comics Dance Party of Newfoundland (May 9-11) don’t all live in St. John’s any more, but we’ll forgive them because they’re funny. And before you roll your eyes at another Titanic production (saw the movie, thanks), look: April 14, 1912 by Toronto’s Theatre Rusticle has received a boatload of praise, including “brilliance” and “magnificence” from the Globe and Mail. So there you go. Tickets for adult shows are $17.50, or a pass is $50 at easternfront.ns.ca.
