There no point skirting around the fact that The Return of Dr. Octagon is pretty fucking weak. Seeing that Doctor himself (Kool Keith) had almost nothing to do with the disc’s creation, it seems a little more understandable, if not any more listenable. The Return
is apparently a collection of Keith’s vocal takes that were put into song structure against his wishes to fulfill a contract obligation. The resulting work is flat, and although at times Keith’s charisma still shines through, on the whole the work lacks the depth, humour and heartfelt insanity of the original. Hold out for the real return, which will (hopefully) be released in the coming months.
