Halifax, get ready to pry behind closed doors. Doors Open Halifax is allowing Haligonians to venture behind the doors of Halifax buildings with social or historical significance that are not usually open to the public. On June 8 and 9 from 10am to 4pm, people will have the freedom to explore buildings such as City Hall, Alexander Keith’s Brewery, the Dominion Public Building, Government House, the Paramount Apartments, Scotiabank Main Branch, King’s Wharf and more (check online for a full list).
“We really want to let attendees know they’ll be exposed to culturally rich venues in Halifax and the city deserves our support as a community, its also a family friendly way to spend the day or weekend,” says Kimberly Crane of the Doors Open Society. Divided into three zones, there will be 30 venues to explore throughout the city. Take the whole tour or sneak a peek into one or two buildings. This event is a great opportunity to learn more about the city and embrace your surroundings. Doors Open is completely free and the Doors Open Society is hoping to make it an annual event. –Rachel Bloom
