If I lived in a futuristic ’80s B-movie like the duo Empire of the
Sun apparently does, this would totally be the album I would seal the
deal with. (I imagine by this point in the future Sade and Massive
Attack will have lost favour as archaic reminders of backwards times.)
I would meet you on my hoverboard while “Standing on the Shore” played.
And by the time my holo-player got to “We Are the People,” our layers
of environment suits would be in a pile on the floor. My slave droid
would call you a cab while I smoked out of a hooka-vapourizer when
“Without You” gently floated through my sleep cubicle. I would fall
asleep listening to the replicants fighting next door.
