Dixie Chicks
Live
(Columbia)
It’s a strange world in which the Dixie Chicks have gone on to succeed Rage Against the Machine in terms of political outspokenness. While it has bought the band some credibility, their music continues to be cutesy country-pop fodder. It may bring a smile to the face of a LL Bean-draped 40-year-old, but seeing as the band proves here that they are great musicians, it feels like a business- savvy, hits-laden copout. This album makes it even more evident how much the world needs Matt Mays.
