This sequel to Clash of the Titans (2010) is more of a showcase for special effects than it is a movie, with a convoluted plot and almost-characters layered on top for good measure. Demigod Perseus (Sam Worthington) ventures to the Underworld prison, Tartarus, to save his father, Zeus (Liam Neeson), and fight, with the help of Queen Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), some rogue demons. Not to mention the myriad of other gods and demigods who’re thrown in, most of whom are probably just there for their star power than anything else; we never get more than a superficial view of any of the characters. More often than not, Titans’ seriousness becomes silly—comic moments include circular conversations about Poseidon’s trident, which is of utmost importance to save something-or-other. The most disappointing thing about this movie is that, despite all its showy CGI, the action isn’t even exciting.
