I’m finding it difficult to express just how much I HATED The March in a way that will let people know just how brilliant I think this play and production is. It’s an amazing, important piece of theatre that deals with the atrocities of the Holocaust in a manner that made me want to sob and flee the increasingly tight-feeling confines of The Bus Stop Theatre. The sheer brutality and horror in this play is unlike anything I’ve ever seen on stage or in movies, and knowing that there is more truth than fiction in this work makes the impact devastating. I was in no way prepared for the relentless assault on my ears, the visceral fear I felt when the guards were near me and the sheer weight of bleakness that now presses on my heart. People should see this —-will even be thankful that they’ve seen it—-all the while wishing themselves a million miles away.
The March runs through March 11 at The Bus Stop Theatre, 2203 Gottingen. It’s directed by Alayna Kolodziechuk and stars Kari Bell, Micha Cromwell, Andy Gouthro, Isaac Keoughan, Taylor Olson and Matt Peach.
