Watching Burt Pugach and Linda Riss’s implausible “love” story unfold for the first time in this fascinating documentary, one assumes that the love part of the story ends at the movie’s midpoint, when Burt hires a thug to throw acid at Linda’s face. But it doesn’t. And clever directors Dan Klores and Fisher Stevens carefully structure their doc, so that every nutty plot twist remains a mind-boggling surprise.
