For the past 10 years, through every city she’s lived in and every place she’s called home Paula Grenon’s been collaging like mad. Perusing, picking, cutting, pasting. “I have stacks of books that I cut up and lug around with me from apartment to apartment,” says the artist who somehow chose 93 of her over 700 collages for one-half of her current exhibit at the Nova Scotia Archives, Kelbar Cut and Paste 2002-2012. “My motivation for making the collages is contemplation and discovery.” While picking and choosing which collages made the cut she also dug into her collection of sketchbooks, showcasing 50 of them, filled with her drawings in Worried Everyday For A Decade. According to these colourful collections, a day in the life of Paula Grenon looks pretty spectacular.
