Someone buy them a silver microphone!
From Press Release HQ:
“This February 1st through February 7th, radio listeners in HRM will take a trip back in time as CKDU 88.1FM celebrates 25 years of community broadcasting with archival clips and visits from former radio hosts.
Celebrations will start on February 1st with a special collaborative radio show hosted by a variety of current and former CKDU staffers, programmers, and fans. At 4pm, CKDU will air “Novelty” by Joy Division, the first song ever broadcast on CKDU FM. (It was supposed to be the more appropriate “Transmission” which was on the flipside, but hey, here at CKDU, we embrace mistakes!) Friends and listeners are invited to join the party, from 3:30pm to 5:30pm at CKDU studios. In the lobby, longtime programmer Matt Rawle will debut a video documentary about CKDU. Birthday cake will be served.
But the party doesn’t end on Monday. All week as CKDU will feature specialty programming recollecting its 25 years of FM broadcasting.”
So tune in and celebrate the wonder that is community radio!
